Run Reigate

We had our largest team to date at ‘Run Reigate’ last September – please get in touch if you would like to join this year’s team! Our corporate supporters, Gemserv, were a wonderful and enthusiastic addition to our  2018 team. Covering a wide range of distances over the 3 races, all of our runners were united in their passion for making a difference and their commitment to connecting lives The sun shone and the live band played as each person approached the finish line, to claim their well-earned medals –  raising over £5000 in the process!

The Brighton Marathon

The Brighton Marathon took place on 15 April 2018 and is one of the UK’s favourite 26.2-milers. With a stunning backdrop of the sea in one of the country’s most vibrant cities, the race gets bigger and better every year. Renowned for its buzzing atmosphere and roaring crowd support, the course winds through the city streets, finishing up on the spectacular Brighton seafront. To run this many miles, requires many months of training, which serves to highlight each runner’s huge commitment to their chosen charity. We have been very fortunate to have wonderful people running this event for us over the past few years, and were so grateful to our 2018 team, pictured here, who between them managed to raise a brilliant £5000!

Sue Flynn “In the last year I have motivated myself to do something about my overall fitness.  Last year I took on Tough Mudder and this year I wanted to continue to challenge myself physically.  What better way to do this than to support a local charity by running the Brighton Marathon?! I chose Us in a Bus; not only because of the amazing work that they do, but because I wanted to support a charity that was local to me and meant a lot to people that I know.”

Adam Pearce “A number of my close family and friends work with vulnerable people who have learning difficulties and complex needs – I’ve seen first-hand how important their work is and the value it brings to the lives of the people they help. I’m grateful for the opportunity to do my bit to support Us In A Bus and I hope the funds raised will help them to continue their essential work and to expand their reach.”

Joanna Grace “In 2015 I became an Ambassador for Parallel London and, in the run up to their 2016 and 2017 events, part of my role was to encourage people with profound disabilities to take part in a sporting event. The hypocrisy of being able bodied myself, but claiming to not be able to run, was not lost on me! Then I saw Us in a Bus needed people to run a marathon for them, they do extraordinary work supporting individuals with PMLD and share their knowledge of intensive interaction with others so more people can benefit. Their work is worth every penny of your donation!”

Leanne Mckeogh “Two years ago I couldn’t run a distance of 3km! But I have stuck at it and I managed to run a Half Marathon in 2017 for Us In A Bus; it was such an amazing experience! Saying yes to running the Brighton Marathon wasn’t a quick decision, but I have taken on this challenge and hope to do Us In a Bus proud. It’s great to be running for such a worthy cause, this charity does amazing work for adults with learning disabilities, every bit of training will be so worthwhile to support them.”

Gemma Hacking “As a parent of a child with additional needs, when the chance to run for Us on a Bus arose recently I jumped at it.  I then thought about it. The Marathon is in 11 weeks and I haven’t run for years! I do however like a challenge so my training began on Sunday. Looking forward to supporting such a worthy charity.”
