Nancy joined Us in a Bus in August 2015 and is a full time member of the Interaction Practitioner team. Prior to this Nancy worked in both the residential and school settings of Young Epilepsy for 10 years, gaining additional knowledge from their multi-disciplinary team. During this time Nancy was also fortunate enough to train as an Intensive Interaction co-ordinator with Dr David Hewitt.
Having left Young Epilepsy, Nancy then spent 18 months as a paediatric occupational therapy assistant, which further developed her knowledge of complex needs, learning disabilities and sensory integration.
Nancy has always felt that it is everyone’s fundamental right to be given the opportunity to reach their potential, to feel safe and valued, and to have friends. She feels very lucky that an opportunity arose for her to join the Us in a Bus team where diversity is embraced and celebrated, and where social communication is promoted through recognising everyone’s need to be heard, understood and appreciated.
Outside of work Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and friends – her four sons and labradoodle provide lots of fun and keep her very busy! She also enjoys being out in the countryside, listening to a variety of music, reading and Zumba!
