Five years ago, after nearly 40 years of service with BAE Systems in the Communications function, Marilyn was in the fortunate position to be able to take an early retirement package. But whilst it was good to have the time to do all the things she wanted to do, she wasn’t quite ready to retire fully so searched the Charity Jobs website and found an advertisement for a part-time volunteer Marketing Assistant for Us in a Bus – and she got the job!
Marilyn find volunteering such a rewarding and fulfilling experience and is so pleased that the communications and marketing skills she amassed during her career with BAE Systems can be used to make a difference to such a worthwhile charity. She has also found it fun working with such an inspiring team.
Marilyn greatly admires all the Interaction Practitioners and Sessional Workers who bring decades of experience, care, dedication and love to each session they do. Their work really does make a difference to people’s lives on a daily basis and she feels fortunate to be a small part of such a great team.
In her spare time, Marilyn enjoys exotic holidays with her husband, long walks in the countryside with her faithful German Shepherd, cooking new and exciting dishes and gardening.
